STEPHANIE SIMARD, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

You’re here for a reason, and I’m glad that you are. Maybe you aren’t completely sure what that reason is. Maybe you’ve noticed that you’re more easily annoyed by those around you, or that the anxious or irritable parts of you have become more difficult to settle. Or perhaps your reason is more definable for you: maybe you’re considering making the brave move toward sobriety, or you’re ready to turn the page on some other chapter of your life.

It can seem lately that we are living in a time full of uncertainty and constant change — changes to the world around us, our communities, our households, our personal circumstances, our relationships, and our self-identities. For many of us, the weight of all this change we are carrying around can become exhausting and overwhelming. Sometimes we just need to find a spot to set it down and breathe.

I would be honored to provide you with a safe and comfortable space to do just that — and to work on identifying the best strategies for you to decrease those overwhelming feelings, addictions, life transitions or relational stress.

I am a Level One trained Internal Family Systems Therapist, and I also utilize mindfulness-based techniques, CBT and Motivational Interviewing as we build upon your strengths to create a new way of living that not only benefits you, but also benefits those around you. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. While I specialize in Mood and Substance Use Disorders, together we will collaborate on the approaches you feel are right and the ones that will most contribute to the life you want to create for yourself.

One key to making life-long changes is feeling a genuine and meaningful connection to your therapist. My work experiences have been rooted in Intensive Outpatient Programs, with an intent focus on Mental Health and Substance Use for more than 6 years. I think it’s important for my clients to know that in addition to my extensive education and training, I have also done the work in my own life. Music and nature both have tremendous therapeutic value that I have found to be incredibly grounding. Much of my free time is spent outdoors and listening to music, often at the same time.

I’m looking forward to supporting clients ages 18 and up to find effective ways for decreasing anxiety, managing stress, obtaining or maintaining sobriety or having more meaningful and connected relationships. To see if we are a good fit for each other, initial consultations are always available at no cost.
